Ministry to at least double renewable energy launch in 2018

MOSCOW, Jun 5 (PRIME) -- Russia’s Energy Ministry expects to raise the launch of renewable energy facilities to over 300 megawatts (MW) or probably to 500 MW in 2018 from around 140 MW in 2017, First Deputy Minister Alexei Teksler said at a congress on Tuesday.

“Last year, we launched around 140 MW, these are certainly small figures, but if we look at the dynamics we will see that we double the volume annually, and this year, I hope, we will launch over 300 MW or maybe even half of a gigawatt,” he said.

The ministry is discussing support volumes for renewable energy after 2024 when the current support program expires, Teksler also said.

“We have some consensus at the Energy Ministry on this issue, to prolong, continue support of renewable energy after 2024, we are currently discussing the volume, size of such support,” he said.
